Under the Working Time Regulations 1998, full-time employees are entitled to 5.6 weeks (28 days) of statutory leave including bank holidays. ZenSkayl calculates entitlements automatically, including pro-rata for part-time and part-year workers — reflecting the holiday pay reforms that came into force in January 2024.
Since April 2024, the Flexible Working (Amendment) Regulations 2023 entitle all employees to request flexible working from their first day of employment. ZenSkayl's workflow module manages the statutory two-request-per-year limit, response deadlines, and decision records.
From April 2024, employees with a dependant who has a long-term care need are entitled to one week (5 days) of unpaid carer's leave per year from day one. ZenSkayl includes this leave type pre-configured, with the correct entitlement rules applied automatically.
The Employment Rights Bill introduces major changes including stronger rights for workers on zero-hours and low-guaranteed-hours contracts, a requirement to offer reasonable hours, and enhanced protection from unfair dismissal from day one.
